Hmmm, I like tigers (any wild feline really) and wolves, but I suppose that would be in the cat/dog section... Horses, bears*, I'm sure there are more but I'll have to think about it.

*From a distance. We get a lot of bears around here and running into them when you're on a walk isn't fun.

hedgehogs.

elephants.

otters.

alpacas. i can make realistic alpaca noises.

bees. honeybees and bumblebees.

veeries! a veery is a kind of thrush. they have a wonderful song that they sing from the tops of big trees in the woods as the sun starts to go down. after 8 years of wondering what kind of bird was singing that song, i finally found out this summer because the internet is GREAT.

i probably forgot some too.

Wolves, bats (I helped rescue a weeny bat when I was younger, they're so cute!)...Lions are just magnificent but in the wild, not shivering in some zoo.

There's a big old fox that lives in the communal garden of my block of flats. He is an absolute monster. Stunning though. I've been trying to get a picture of him for months but he doesn't keep still long enough.

I'll definitely post them if I managed to catch a picture of him. Smile

I remember watching a programme about foxes and they said the best way to tempt them in the garden is dog food.

the video could be like your ultimate tapir dream.

haha, that video is so cool! tapirs are just super fun to watch.

and, in a somewhat related vein, the first time i went to japan someone offered me a box of animal crackers. japanese animal crackers are kind of weird and are labeled with the name of the animal. some of them were like "furseal" and "mallard duck"

and guess what. there was a tapir-shaped animal cracker!

Tapirs look kind of prehistoric don't they? Like a pig/elephant/horse ancestor maybe.

I like pigs! Wild boar babies are stripey like Tapirs and are sooooo cute Smile

kittymaus, those are so neat!

I was misbehaving at the zoo once and climbed a wall to pet a tapir. That was cool, but i find them way too stinky to be very interested. I also went thru a fence to get closer to a tiger once, and that set me off on a three year long tiger obsession. I still love to watch documentary footage of tigers, and snow leopards too. I really like bats, and have a bathouse in my yard, but it is unoccupied Crying or Very sad

Chinchillas and jaguarundis! I like jaguarundis because they have the look of a big cat but are actually really tiny for a wild cat.

I was almost thirteen. It was leaning up against some of the chain link making weird noises, almost like a purr. I went under the fence that was meant to keep people away from that chain link. So I got close enough to feel it's breath, but I didn't touch it. This particular zoo is old and small, and there is not a large distance between the visitors and animals. I have a long history of breaking rules there, but I'm trying to mend my ways. I have "adopted" a sloth, which I also think is a very cool animal.

I'm obsessed with sea turtles. I even have a tattoo of a sea turtle that I got after seeing my first turtle in Maui last summer. In Hawaiian culture turtles are guardians, so I have my guardian turtle on my back swimming along through life with me. Smile Kinda lame, but I love it.

I also love tigers. I live near a huge (free) zoo and I love to go spend time there just watching the tigers. We have 3 tiger cubs, but they're almost grown and will be leaving our zoo soon. Sad I think I'd be terrified to get close enough to touch them, though. They just look so strong, even though they are so graceful, which is one of the things I love about them.

I saw an otter today!! I'm so excited! Mr. Green It was swimming in the pond in my woods. I think I may have scared the poor thing off by squealing like an over-excited toddler Rolling Eyes

Had a very cool time in Costa Rica conservating leatherback turtles... they are very powerful creatures, but so totally vulnerable when giving birth; they go into a sort of trance during the labour, and absolutely fascinating... although there's nothing to bring you back down to earth like lying on your tummy in the sand in the middle of the night, being devoured by sandflies, peering up a turtle's birthing cervix with a plastic bag extended to catch the eggs (along with a quantity of turtle-slime Razz).

I'm not really one to go a bundle on animals, any more than I am on small children - I prefer something that can talk Razz but the social habits of animals in the wild can be very beautiful and interesting... turtles and elephants are my favourites, for exactly opposite reasons actually - turtles because they mate for life, and elephants because they live in all-female collectives Razz

Apart from plain old cats, love penguins, goats, seals, wolves and donkeys. My totem animal would probably be a raven though.

It can become pretty complicated and I haven't really studied it, so I'll just post this link about 'finding your totem animal.' Smile
