There's been some crackers recently

Quote:
Gogol Bordello is a nightmare for the photographers because the bugger never stays still.

Quote:
I just wish that Bordello was wearing some underwear underneath those joggy-bottoms.
both from http://www.drownedinsound.com/articles/3728463

Quote:
Singer Eugene Hutz bounded around stage with his customary wild abandon, smashing bottles and guitars at leisure before covering VFs photographer in red wine.

It's old, and it's a little serious next to yours, but I've always loved this one from an album review of Gypsy Punks:

"The mood of this passionate, urgent, violently alive record reflects its message: life is short and often hard, there is no time to waste."

So painfully accurate. I love that.

I was pretty sure he didn't. He was wearing those stripy pants at the Cleveland show I went to and I thought he might fall out of them...they just kept getting lower and lower.

Not that I'm opposed or anything. Mr. Green

"What fan girl or boy isn't tempted to have their blas, boring butt kicked by the very unironic, passionate Gogol Bordello not for nothing is the band's 2002 album titled Multi Kontra Culti vs. Irony (Rubric) which takes nothing for granted, and while it's at it, takes no prisoners."

Yeah, I would have to say I don't think he wears underwear. At least that is how it appeared from my perspective....

Oh, and that guy behind him, I am 99% sure he was helping Eugene pull his pants back up, despite what it may look like....lol

I know I'm not the only one because I've had the discussion before but.... Looking at that picture makes me laugh because most people get so excited when Eugene is right in front of them and I'm always thinking "nonononononono, go to the other side I'm going to get crushed!!!!!!"

Where was that picture taken? It almost looks like the Slim's gig in San Francisco at the beginning of this month. Is that it?

Exactly what I think. I don't mind getting crushed at a gig in the standard moshy fashion, but I hate it when twenty people lean on your head or use your hair as a grabbing tool just to get closer to Eugene.

He stuck the mic in my face to sing at a gig on the last UK tour, and while the crowd were surging forward to try and touch him, I slowly sank lower and lower, sucked into the riptide. I genuinely couldn't straighten up from the weight of people trying to get past me. And then the crowd grabbed at him so much he fell on Nadia and she was left forever scarred. :p

Melantha just sent me this quote from a German interview she translated. It's fucking brilliant (and also true thus far, at least as far as every show I've seen):

Eugene: "Gogol Bordello don't play shit gigs, everyone plays bad shows, but not Gogol Bordello. We're Gogol fucking Bordello and before we play a bad show, Switzerland will win the next fucking world war."

"Even the happiest moments, have a shadow of sadness, because you know they are gone already."
-Eugene hutz

Of the mini doc. Creative People Must be Stopped on Axis Mundi.

That is the most true thing I have ever heard. I always get that pre-nostalgia during shows. Because I know they'll soon be over.

Priceless:

If you are pulling over in some fucked up town and get the sense nobody knows who the fuck you are, dont waste time drumming up random local crowd, just head straight to a local gay bar and make as many friends as possible, that way youll bring a much more solid and enthusiastic crowd to your show, and possibly even have the best afterparty of your life Anyway, thats how we did it

UK Guardian newspaper gives out young art critics awards

Quote:
Among younger pop critics, 13-year-old Holly MacHenry won for her rousing review of Gogol Bordello, with the judges praising its ability to convey the raw excitement of being there ("About halfway through the second song I decided being cool wasn't important and started jumping about").
