My boyfriend bought me a gorgeous mini accordian. I love it so much.

I can pretty much only play a scale so far though. And also make a lot of oompah-like racket.

That he is... especially since there's nothing he hates more than me making a racket on accordians!

If your mini accordian is red and blue with white buttons, I bet we have the same model! You should be proud of being able to play a scale, I just love to make a racket with mine and use it during prank phone calls.

My cousin got my 3yo a mini accordion for christmas. It only has seven buttons, it is for small children. My HUSBAND is always playing it, and has learned how to play songs just by listening to sounds and using trial and error till he gets it right. I'm jealous of that type of musical skill. He seems to enjoy it so much, I might get him a real one for his brithday, if I can find something decent.

I gots me an accordion for new years nd I can sorta play some songs from the movie Amelié, nd im in the process of learning to play some GB songs by ear.

Mine is old and black. its an Honor (or however you spell it) nd its student sized.. So basically the small kind.

Hopefully ill get someone to show me how everything's done, as im a quicker learner when there's someone there so teach me in person.

Good luck on learning to play! :]

both my parents played, thier parents made them learn as children. When my father was a kid it was his duty to play for the adults when the family got together. i always loved it when he'd take it out to play but it is pretty hard to convince him these days. They brought my son a small accordian from Italy a few years ago, kid sized but fully functional. My favorite is the beautiful little concertina that was my grandfathers...I miss having that music in the house *sniff*

maybe i will take it up! if anyone has worked out GB for the accordian plz post! Smile

Very Happy! i play
i just got a new one for christmas, its a used Ferrari from Italy...
i'm in love with it, and can sort of play a few songs... decently... but i've been searching EVERYWHERE for lessons...

I also have a mini-accordion that i found at the thrift store for $1.50... sadly, one of the buttons broke off, so now it doesn't play anymore.

have fun playing!!! Smile

*sidenote*
If anyone has any ideas of where to search for affordable lessons in the south eastern NH area, let me know?

have you checked this place out? i guess south & east are relative but they look like they could help you out http://www.accordionconnection.com/Home.htm

i had fun playing around with the small accordian but couldn't convince my dad to play tonight. Oh well, he said he'd show me a few things on the little one though so that should be fun Smile it only has 13 keys and 8 buttons so i don't know what much i can do with it!!

Last year, I wrote out some accordion Gogol sheet music. I could probably get some of them scanned and share them if you guys are interested. But I should warn you that the accordion parts are largely improvisational and my parts are a simplification of some of these. My friend had just learned accordion, so I tried to keep out as many 16th and 32nd notes as possible.

Anyways, here are the songs I have sheet music for:

Mala Vida
Madagascar

I also got a few others from other bands like Flogging Molly and the Tossers.

I'm having issues getting a scanner, but when I get back to town next week I may be able to find one.

For anybody interested, these nice fellows made some sheet music of Prologue to Everything is Illuminated:

http://songbook.ning.com/group/newsongs/forum/topic/show?id=879576%3ATopic%3A2665

It's a pdf.

Turns out my dad has a sweet scanner that turns whole documents into pdfs. I know some computers don't like pdfs so much, but these are the whole songs together, so I'll put these up here. If anybody knows a better way to share these short of rescanning each page and uploading them each to photobucket, I'm willing to try.

http://rapidshare.com/files/182240521/Madagaskar.pdf.html

Again, these are not professional or even 100% accurate, because Yuri is insane and his solos are dominate, and all of Madagascar is that way (and I'm pretty sure all the F chords written underneath are supposed to be D minor; I don't have enough white out or care to fix it because it still sounds OK). But this is a good start for people who aren't virtuosos.

P.S. they comes with some notes I have on there for my friends to whom I'm teaching these songs.

P.P.S. for anybody who likes flogging molly:

Sorry it took as long as it did, but I was hoping to get them watermarked before I upped them again.
