Nice!! My A Level results were nowhere near as good. But then, I did pull stunts like bursting into tears in the middle of lessons to be excused so me and my friend could sneak off into the woods and drink rum.

In my experience, if you're in floods of tears, people will be sympathetic to your requests. I feel like a shit for doing it!

My best friend's son just got a bionic hand. I just want to jump up and down for joy. It took so long battling the insurance company. I am just so happy for him.

Schools don't work like that here, it's more of a lottery when your kid is old enough.

Don't know what we're having...and haven't quite finalised the names either!

A weekend to whittle down the final candidates.

not just anarchists. both my daughters have been or are going through the state school system and doing very well. one in cambridge and the other going in the same direction.
a lot of people are overly critical of the school system in the uk, but i will admit that it is partly a lottery here too depending on where you live.

I live in Athens.

I taught my 3 yr old Einsteins' theory of relativity, not the state or a private school. I also taught her Monty Python sketches. Money and taxes won't get you that!

V for Vendetta!

No, seriously. It is a Greek name that we liked the sound of with me later* realising where I'd got the idea from. Wink

My favorite baseball team won the division for the first time in 29 years yesterday. And by chance I was at the game. It was pretty much [one of] the best nights of my life.

AND I just found out today that I won playoff tickets.

We went to pick up an 8 wk old cream goldendoodle but the kids fell in love with a little brown one. Right now it is only 4 weeks old. We are getting it Nov 1. I've never had a dog before so I'm reading every dog training book available.

lol A friend of mine got a puppy for her 4 kids. When she got it she said she was doing it to teach them about death. (She is a bit of a nutter). 15 years later the dog is still going strong and her kids are just about grown and out of the house.

great! if you'd like some recommendations, here are some great books from well-known dog behaviorists who are in the positive reinforcement side of dog training. hopefully they'll be helpful. i will also recommend that you don't subscribe to the cesar milan/dominance theory/negative, punishment-based training school of thought. dominance theory has been de-bunked, and negative reinforcement can lead to lots of problems. positive training methods are logical and help people understand why dogs do what they do and what types of training solutions work while strengthening the bond you have with your pet. perhaps you've already decided not to bother with the dominance/negative stuff, and if that's the case, just disregard that bit. Smile best of luck!
